Shocked,
surprised, nervous I came to school 8.00, 1st May 2014. We were
booked in for a lively workshop with Ms. Ashby about World War 2 in the hall. I
wanted to know more by the end of the session. I was so joyful.
First we
were given a character. I was an evacuee girl. I put on a gorgeous floral dress
with a cream coloured cardigan. And while we were waiting for everybody to get
dressed we watched Despicable Me. I felt wonderful but also quite nervous
because in year 2 I had to dress as the queen but that is a story for another
day. But back to the war, we went into the hall and sat down on the benches.
Then Ms.
Ashby put on some funky music from the 1940’s to get us in the mood! (Not the
bad sort of funky but the good sort!) Then we all came out one by one in our
costumes and Ms. Ashby told everybody what we did during the war. First up were
the factory workers (Rebecca and Lily) came up and 2nd was the land
army girls (Kelsi and Charlie) and so on.
After that it came to dinner so we got out of
our costumes so we could eat lunch. We then went into the hall AGAIN but we did
something different. We played with things like potato and spoon, cup and ball,
bowling, skipping, yoyo’s, boat on a string & dominoes.
My
favourite part of the day was playing with the skipping ropes because usually I
can’t skip but I could with those skipping ropes because that was a heavy rope
and my one at home is really light.
